To access the dungeon, Link must first learn the Song of Storms as an adult from the music box man inside the Kakariko Village windmill. Afterwards, return to the Temple of Time to transform back into Child Link and travel back to Kakariko Village. Playing the Song of Storms inside the windmill drains the water level, allowing you to drop down the ladder into the dark well below.

Once inside, players encounter a complex layout filled with fake walls and invisible pits. Navigating these corridors requires caution, as stepping into unseen floor gaps drops Link down to a basement filled with ReDeads and poison water. The central goal of the mini-dungeon is locating the chamber housing the mini-boss known as Dead Hand. Allowing one of the white arms to grab Link prompts Dead Hand to lower its head, exposing its primary weak point to sword strikes. Once defeated, a chest appears containing the Lens of Truth, granting players the ability to reveal hidden paths and invisible enemies throughout Hyrule.

Beyond the main objective, adventurous players can search for small keys to unlock extra rooms filled with Skulltula tokens and rupees. Using bombs on suspicious rubble and lighting torches reveals secret alcoves housing valuable supplies.
